BB Cream

A couple of months ago I received a sample of Maybelline’s Dream BB Cream courtesy of Wal-mart. I requested the sample through another website called Get It Free. I’ll talk more about that site another time, because today I want to focus on BB cream.
For those of you that have never heard of BB cream, the BB stood for “blemish balm” originally and is now more commonly (and appropriately) known as “beauty balm”. After all, this cream isn’t just for blemishes! Before trying the BB cream, I wasn’t sure what to expect. After trying it, I think the best way to describe BB cream is “tinted moisturizer on steroids.”
BB cream has been around for quite a while. It was developed in the 1960s in Germany and it’s usage gradually spread into Asia. However, these creams didn’t become extremely popular in the US until the last year or so. Needless to say, I was excited to see a chance to get a sample, so I snagged it up right away. The Maybelline Dream BB Cream, has a pretty low price point at $8, so I wasn’t sure what to expect. I was surprised at how much I really enjoyed it!
The Maybelline BB product is incredibly smooth and light. I was really impressed with the way it felt on my skin. I didn’t feel like I needed any additional coverage while wearing it. In addition, I didn’t feel like it “disappeared” during the day. A huge plus!
For now, I’m back to using my regular old foundation, because, face it, who wants to throw out a barely used bottle and waste that money? However, when it is empty, I’ll be making a return to BB cream. Hopefully, I’ll be able to gain access to a couple more samples (particularly of the more expensive brands) before that time, so I can settle on the best brand for me.
