Stitch Fix #30 Reveal

This fix was really about putting the finishing touches on my travel capsule for my nearly two week trip to Australia. One big request was a comfortable pair of skinny jeans. I was hoping that my stylist would send lots of options, but I knew I was taking a chance because what is sent is always limited to what inventory is available. Still, I knew I would have a couple of days to spare after receiving my fix if nothing in my box worked out for me.
First, here is my video preview from the day my box arrived, just in case you missed it!
Now, here is how everything worked out!
West Kei Julianne Tie Front Blouse – This wasn’t anything close to what was on my wish list for this fix, but it totally wowed me! I love that my stylist has learned me so well, that she knows when I’m really going to like something and sends it even when it isn’t at the top of my “I want this right now” list! I ended up packing this with a black pencil skirt for my trip instead of bringing a black dress. Verdict: KEEP
41 Hawthorn Maizey Essential Crewneck Pullover – I mentioned in my note to Elizabeth for this fix that I had loved the grey shirt from last fix but that I needed something with a slightly different kind of fit. This definitely fit differently, but it still hugged my midsection a little too much. I’m going to keep looking for a solid grey like this, though. I have liked both tops from the last two fixes, I just haven’t found the one I love that also loves me back. Verdict: RETURN
Article of Society Aisling High Rise Skinny Jean – I specifically stated in my stylist note that I don’t do low rise jeans. I’ve always carried weight in the front of my belly, so they just don’t work for me. I was happy that my stylist listened and sent me two pairs of jeans with a more substantial rise. I liked most things about these jeans, but on my short torso, the high rise of these jeans was just too much. I pulled them up as much was comfortable, but could still feel the crotch of the jeans hanging and pulling what felt like an inch or even two belong where it should have hit me. Verdict: RETURN
STS Blue Neve Skinny Jean – On the other hand, the rise on these jeans was perfect. There is a little fraying on the pockets and some slight whiskering in the wash, but everything else about these jeans was so good, that I decided to let go of those little peeves. I’ve already worn them twice during the trip and they are awesome! Verdict: KEEP
Eight 18 Francie Back Detail Pullover – I was pretty surprised to see this sweater in my box. Elizabeth just sent a black and white striped sweater in my last fix so it seemed a little like a repeat. But, I still had the tags on the other one and Stitch Fix customer service is awesome, so I could have investigated returning the original one and keeping this one if I had loved it, but I didn’t. The knit was a bit thicker than they first one I was sent, so it wouldn’t have worked as well for Australian spring weather. In addition, the “back detail” in the name is actually an open back kind of thing with two openings. That just isn’t me. So, back it went. Verdict: RETURN
I was really happy with this fix! I didn’t go in expecting to keep much, because what I was really after was a new pair of skinny jeans and Elizabeth definitely delivered in that department! The pieces I didn’t keep were totally my style, but just didn’t work for me for one reason or another at this time. I’ll take that as a success!
