Just a quick wrap-up/update today, as we are still in Sydney and I’m trying not to miss a minute of this experience! Be sure to check our more Weekly Wraps with Wendy and HoHo!
No weigh-in this week, because as I shared last week, I’m starting fresh after we get back to the States. I’m really enjoying the food here, so I know the scale is going to be a little painful that first day!
I did my running workouts as regularly scheduled last week before we left town, but I was pretty short on time last Tuesday and Thursday, so strength training didn’t happen. Also, jet lag has been a beast so I’ve been spending an hour or so awake during the middle of each night, I just haven’t had the extra motivation to run. We have walked and explored quite a bit, so that has been helpful. Here is how things have gone:
- Monday – 3 mile run (9:1 run:walk intervals
- Tuesday – rest
- Wednesday – 3.5 mile run
- Thursday – rest
- Friday – lost day (we flew across the international date line, so it literally did not exist)
- Saturday – local walking around Bondi Beach
- Sunday – whirlwind walking and bus tour of some popular Sydney sights
We travel from Sydney to Brisbane on Wednesday, so we don’t have any big tourist plans that day except for a walk. Perhaps we will turn part of that into a run to help get our legs back under us! I have a feeling we will feel more like running once we get to Brisbane!
How do you deal with getting in your runs when you are dealing with jet lag and a hectic tourist schedule? I would love to hear your suggestions!
Looks like such a fun vacation! Are you running while you’re there?
That was my plan, but it hasn’t happened yet! Bondi was super hilly and we were just so jet-lagged. We walked along the Brisbane River this morning and it looks like a good spot for a run, so we are planning to do that tomorrow morning!
Travel can really cause fatigue. I’d focus on enjoying your vacation and doing fun activities with the family. If you don’t get any running in, I wouldn’t worry about it. There’s always time for that when you get back home. Thanks for linking!
