WIAW: Vacation Eats

Since it’s What I Ate Wednesday, I thought I would take the chance to catch you up with what I ate on vacation last week.
I mean, we all eat a little worse than normal during a vacation right? While I didn’t capture photos of every single thing I put in my mouth during vacation, there are a few pics I managed to grab.
Almost every morning started with a cup of French press coffee, quickly followed by a cup of Keurig coffee.
After we ran, Nathan made us a breakfast sandwich most mornings. The sandwich was on whole grain bread and had my mom’s awesome pimento cheese, a piece of turkey bacon, and an over medium egg on it. So not healthy, but so delicious!
I did manage to eat a banana during the week. Yep, just one. The cherries in the homemade cherry pie count as fruit, right?
Of course I also ate more of these…
and these…
than I would care to admit. (I did manage to only eat one ice-pop the entire trip.)
We enjoyed family dinners every night.
And on Thursday, when it rained, Nathan broke out the fryer and made these bites of delicious, AKA, Sweet Dawgs!
Of course, what trip to the Outer Banks would be complete without a stop at one of my favorite spots for a Bushwhacker and fish tacos?
It really was a week of amazing eats! YUM!!!
What do you eat when you go on a family vacation?
Donuts with hot dogs? Now that is something I’ve never heard of before. This may sound dumb, but does have it a distinct taste?
They are amazing! We use Nathan’s All-Beef Hot Dogs. The smoky, salty flavor of the dog combined with the sweetness from the glaze is just unlike anything I’ve ever tasted. When we made them for a party last summer, some of our hard-core vegetarian friends were even blown away by them.
Donuts with hot dogs? Huh, interesting… We haven’t been on a big family vacation in awhile but I always bring my own food. At least snacks, breakfasts and lunches. I’m pretty particular about my food so it’s just easier that way 🙂
