Weekly Recap: Getting By

I’m not even going to make excuses. I didn’t make much progress in any of my goals since my mid-week check. I ended up having a really great run Thursday evening, but it was cold when I finished, so I didn’t hang in the parking lot to do my core work like I had planned. Friday was my rest day. I ended up sleeping horribly on Friday night, but I still did my planned 8 mile run on Saturday morning at Salem Lake. After breakfast with the girls, I was down for the count. I showered, iced my plantar fascia for a bit while I watched UVA’s basketball game, and then, I napped.
Nathan had rehearsals all afternoon, so when he got home we took advantage of the warmer weather by breaking out the grill for blackened chicken with cilantro-lime quinoa and some avocado cream sauce that we whip up using plain Greek yogurt, avocado, lime zest and juice, agave nectar, and salt. It cools down the blackening season a little bit and kind of makes everything pop.
I intended to hit either spin or Y on Sunday afternoon, but there was some stuff I had to take care of that morning that did not leave me in a good state. I ended up retiring to the couch to watch the ACC Championship game (Go HOOS!) and just took it easy while Nathan went back for more rehearsals and a recital.
This coming week is likely to bring even more crazy. I’m changing up my running schedule for the week so that I can run long after work on Friday before we head to Durham to spend the night. Saturday will be taken up by doing crowd support for Nathan as he runs the Merge Records 25K from Chapel Hill to Durham. We’ll follow that up with a concert by his percussion ensemble on Saturday night. On Sunday morning, we are going to be West Virginia bound to see Punch Brothers and Aoife O’Donovan in concert. We’ve been looking forward to this one for a while now!
I intended to start adding a fourth day of running in starting this week, but with the travel schedule I don’t know if that is going to happen. That being said, if Sunday morning rolls around, and I’m feeling it, then off I go!
I’m not worrying too much about my household and independent work goals this week. There is enough on my plate, so if I get to it, I’ll get to it. Otherwise, I’ll just be keeping up the best I can and making do!
